Das erinnert mich an eine alte Geschichte, von der ich durch unseren Arabischlehrer, Dr. N. S., erfahren habe. Seinerzeit soll sie in der Presse großen Wirbel verursacht haben:
ABDALLAH AL DSCHABIR AL SABBAH, 42, Vetter des Scheichs von Kuwait, Kieler Blitzhochzeiter (SPIEGEL 15/1961), verstieß seine deutsche Frau, die Kieler Gastwirtstochter Heidi Dichter, 19, nach dreiwöchiger Ehe. Begründung: Verständigungsschwierigkeiten. Entgegen den eidesstattlichen Aussagen vor der Hochzeit hat der Ölprinz in Kuwait bereits drei Frauen.

Unser Gewährsmann aus dem benachbarten Basra berichtete, daß die junge Frau einem multikulturellen Harem entfloh, in dem jede Ehefrau eine Zimmerflucht bewohnte, deren Türschild mit Namen, Herkunftsland und Landesfarben gekennzeichnet war. Ein kalifornisches Archiv weiß noch:

… What a life! Take as a case in point Prince Abdullah Al Jabber Al Sabah, 42, who happens to be the Minister of Justice and Culture of Kuwait on the Persian Gulf. Some weeks ago the Prince flew into Hamburg, Germany, a seaport city well-known for its uninhibited night life. There he met Heidi Dichter, a young, curvaceous, blue-eyed charmer on vacation from Kiel. Heidi speaks no Arabic, the Prince no German, but they held eyes across the table, hands under the table, and since they both speak the language of love, they were quickly married in Heidi's home city.
Everyone in Kiel said Heidi was the luckiest girl in the world. What a catch she'd made! A real Arabian Prince, so fabulously rich he had his own plane. The newlyweds flew to Capri for their honeymoon. But then the Prince, who already had four wives, had to return home on business. PRINCESS HEIDI went on to Majorca to await her husband. But the Prince never showed. Under Moslem law, a man can divorce his wife by making a formal statement in front of witnesses that the marriage is finished. Abdullah did so.
Heidi, a princess for all of a month, returned to Kiel where she told the full, sad story to her mother. Mama Dichter, a tough, proud, German Hausfrau of the old school, said, „Nobody can treat my daughter this way.“ She hired a lawyer to file suit against the Sheik for $500,000.
Suddenly from Kuwait came the news that Abdullah had searched his soul and discovered he was still in love with Heidi, wanted her always beside him as his fifth wife. So to Kuwait flew Heidi and moved into her Sheik's palace. There she reigns today, a princess for more than a month. How much more is anyone's guess.-
Anyway, Mama isn't quite as angry as she used to be. It seems her new Arabian son-in-law has agreed to pay $75 per month for her rent…

PS.: Das Abendblatt v. 8.6.1961 schreibt, sie hätten sich in Bad Homburg kennengelernt. In den USA hat man also falsch Verstandenes phantasievoll ausgeschmückt. Am 24.7.1961 wird vermerkt: Auch seine Altersangabe (er hatte behauptet, 42 Jahre alt zu sein) beruhte auf einem Meineid; denn sein Sohn, Oberbefehlshaber der Streitkräfte von Kuweit, ist zum Beispiel schon 43 Jahre alt. Am 12.2.1962 wird berichtet, der Scheich habe eine 27. Ehefrau geheiratet und müsse seine Heidi nun wohl endgültig verstoßen.
